  1. Send self-intro to the mailing list.
  2. Be familiar with all of the information on this site. Especially, you have to know the class rules. Work on this "Class rule knowledge confirmation Quiz" (Read right below for user ID and password)
  3. Fill out this information page.

  1. You send all of your correspondenses to the mailing list (e-mail address is written above). But you must be a member of the mailing list to be able to send e-mails.

  3. Use this "Help" section to know more about Google Groups.
  • In order to use the Interactive page, you have to use the user ID and password assigned to you. These are different from your UH Unnix ID and password. Your user name is "last name " + "." + "firstname initial". Your password is your student ID number. For further information, go here. If you registed just recently, I don't have your account made. Contact the instructor.
  • Your information/answers are stored fine if you see this message after sending your answers.

Typing Exercise Explanation.		 Send iVisit self-intro file. See right column. Read "How to type in Japanese": Here. and work on Exercise 1. You can submit this exercise more than once.
Download iVisit Classic from here and use your web camera to record your self-introduction and send the file to the mailing list. (Don't use the Google mailing list web interface to send an attachment, there's no way to send an attachment if so you that.)
Use this to help memorize ひらがな and stroke order. This is also useful. Sound Files are here.

Virtual Online Conversation Practice 1.
Hiragana Reading Practice. (You don't turn this in, only help you learn hiragana. You can use this throughout Chapter 1.)

You can submit all of the exercises above more than once. The main purpose is to get used to typing Japanese and the online style of submission.
We'll use the virtual online conversation system quit often. Make sure you have the latest flash plug-in installed. Be sure to practice and get used to this. There are many guides once you click on the link above.

iV:tb.p.6 means "iVisit exercise, textbook page 6."
Record the exercise with your WebCam by using iVisit and send the file to class as an e-mail attachment.
Make your file name like this "your name + exercise number." For example, for this exercise, "yourname-6" This is easier for me to organize files. Also your e-mail title "subject" should be "yourname-6".

22 (F) Lesson 2 Schedule.
  1. You'll take the Lesson 1 test either on Thursday or Friday. 10% will be deducted for each solar day you take the test late under any cirsumstances. If you take the test on Monday, it'll be 30% off.
  2. You will take the Chapter test at the KCC testing center (Lama 101, 734-9144) when they are open. Click here for the hours. If you access this test anyplace else, it's cheating and your course grade will be F.
  3. If you want to take a test at a testing center at other campus, it's your responsibility to make arrangements.
  4. Should you have to take a test late, you have to inform the instructor at least two solar day in advance. Otherwise, the test is locked, which means the test is not accessible.
  5. You have to bring your photo ID to take the test. They don't provide you with your user ID and your user password. So, be sure to bring your user ID and your password with you. You will access this schedule page and click on the link to access the test.
  6. For lesson 1 test, you should be able to recognize all of the ひらがな and you should be able to recognize all of the expressions on page 29 of the textbook.
